Looking Good!
30 Nov 2017
Dear LPG,
As we creep up to the Christmas period the party invitations are likely to be a little more plentiful than at any other part of the year. I am a lady of a certain age, but no matter how old we get I feel it is really important to look your best when you go out anywhere.
These days I am not as mobile as I used to be and I can only leave home with the help of a carer who will take me where I am going and stay with me once I get there, but for all that, on the few occasions that I do go to evening events I still want to make the effort to look as good as I did two decades ago when preparation for such events was much easier for me to achieve.
Having a hairdresser visit is becoming easier but, for me, the appearance of my hands and nails are equally important. Since being less able to get out of my home getting the help I need to come to me has made such a difference, and while I have now found a really good visiting hairdresser I have found it quite difficult to find a visiting nail technician, and though I did find one recently. She appears to no longer be available. I would like to hear from anyone who knows of a practitioner or would be prepared to offer a similar service.
I know that this is a reminder that will be good news for the ladies and would ask gentlemen readers to take on board that looking your best is not something that needs to be given up as you get older (although I am not suggesting that they have acrylic nails). In my opinion it is very important that all of us ladies and men take pride in themselves in spite of the fact that our main priority at our age is not to impress members of the opposite sex.
There is a school of thought that dictates that ‘When you look good you feel good’, and I have something to add. You know when you look good, so it is not a bad thing to listen to your friends’ comments but remember that as we get older the person you need to please is you. I make myself look good to suit me. Just because I am older my appearance should not have to change.
Whatever you need to do to look good, do it and dress to suit yourself. I believe that looking good is akin to feeling good and encourages having more confidence in yourself which is part of the holistic approach to health and positivity.
HH, New Cross.
LPG,
Has found some proof that HH is not the only person that agrees with this thought process…
