The Blue Depression Revisited
15 Jan 2018
Did you know that historically, today, January 15th has become renowned for many momentous events that have taken place over the years?
On this day in 1559 Queen Elizabeth I was crowned in Westminster Abbey, in 1759 the British Museum opened its doors for the first time, in 1889 the company we now know for producing Coca-Cola was founded in the USA, while on this day in 1969 the Soviet Union launched Soyuz 5, and on 15th January 2001 Wikipedia, the website where we got all this information from, went live online. But in 2005 it was scientifically calculated that the third Monday of each year should be regarded as the most depressing annual celebration of a day, which is now called Blue Monday. (►►►)
So LPG hopes that we can offer some information that might help on the way to a remedy should you find yourself at a low point today?
We would like to start by reminding you of your biggest achievement and that is YOU. You are still around and you have come a long way. There are many schools of thought about how to make life better when you feel down, regardless of if depression gets to you every now and then. So if you feel that you are in a continuous state of feeling really low.
LPG does not have the answers but we have found some videos that may help you to work out just how badly you or perhaps a friend that you know and are worried about really feel. The videos are predominately from the US where they talk fast, but perhaps they may help. The speakers are younger than most of us but depression affects people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.
Lastly, remember that videos may be some help but if you really feel depressed you need to see your GP to start with.
