Trackers – good or bad?
03 Mar 2018
You may remember our news post from CP of Lee dated 19/02/18 who, though we gave general advice, was specifically asking about GPS tracking systems and cars. We found some information on that subject for our readers. Can I firstly draw your attention to this (►►►), which throws up all sorts of questions in my opinion?
In any scenario, GPS trackers can be seen to have both good and bad consequences. It appears that they could be set to become a legal requirement on all new cars sold in the EU by the end of next year, and the information they produce will possibly be used in court cases. On the other hand if you get stuck the AA and RAC will be able to find you more easily. Whether the EU ruling will affect the UK in the light of the fact that we are ‘Brexiting’ must be questionable. I have to wonder how long it will be before they record a lot more than where your car is. Will it become the black box that records every time you start or turn the car and use the brakes/ accelerator, and what will be the consequences for driver’s insurance premiums? Just a thought…
We found some other information about tracking devices on new cars …
