Dear LPG,

I just wondered if anyone knows where in the borough of Lewisham you would have to go to see this picture?

I took it about a year ago and was lucky enough to see the artist doing the painting of this really faithful image of an older Jazz musician when he was a bit younger.  It took me back to the days of my youth, that I spent indulging my love of music al long time ago now.

For any jazz fans among today’s LPG readers, it is a portrait of Roy Ayres, an American jazz musician; the creator of some niche pieces but I cannot believe that the artist of this visual tribute and I are the only fans in Lewisham.

Although it is not as big a problem in our borough, as it was in its 1990 heyday, we often think of graffiti artists as defacers of public places and property, but there is a lot of very positive art on our Lewisham streets these days.
