I know it is a subject you have covered before but can I implore readers to have their door chains on and to use them 24/7.  It can’t be stressed too much.

There has always been one section of the community who could be at risk if they locked themselves in and those are the people who cannot always get to the door to answer it.  It would then be important that a key holder could get to them in the case of an emergency. There are now chains that come with two keys meaning that although they allow you to talk to the person outside while you are locked in,  key holders can gain access from the outside when necessary.

If you live alone please take this precaution.
