Do you remember when only technical people talked in jargon and acronyms, which were expected to go over the heads of ordinary people?   For instance, back in the 1970s the only person expected to really know what the term ASAP meant would have been someone from the army, but now we all know what it means.  Well, like most of these expressions, I thought it would have originated in the USA and it has to mean ‘As soon as possible’.  But does it?
