The instructor was right

Dear LPG,
I wrote to you about six months ago and you were kind enough to post my letter on 14th July. At the time I was explaining just how busy I was sharing my reluctance when it came to getting involved with an exercise class now that i am retired; not because of any anxiety about it not being good for me, but because, as a pre-retired person I had spent some nine months looking forward to lots and lots of R&RiR. (Rest and Relaxation in my retirement years – and not a lot else)
I mentioned being on the verge of giving up when I had a short but memorable conversation with a fitness instructor, and I promised to write again to let you know if her wise words applied to me.
I am happy to say that I think that they do. I exercise twice a week now and although I can’t say that, I really want to make the journey on those mornings when it looks really cold and unwelcoming as I take my first look through the front door, I do have to admit that that young lady was right. As old as I am and even though
I haven’t been exercising half as vigorously as I once used to, I really do miss my exercise sessions when I cannot go and, though I did not actually set out to lose weight, I find getting onto the scales and noticing the odd pound that I have shed is an added bonus.
If you have not yet tried some exercise, however little, i want you to know that I now absolutely agree with that young instructor who gave me the pep talk, and suggest that you have a go if you can.
