Chopping off the Overhang.

Dear LPG
I just wanted to comment on something that can become a bone of contention for some. I am lucky enough to be able to say that my neighbours and I have a harmonious relationship in spite of a little something extra that they have provided for me.
Both houses have been occupied by the same owners for quite a few years now, and when they first moved in they saw fit to plant a tree which has, over the years grown to quite a height. As I did mention, although it has taken some time to reach its now lofty size, it is not a problem for me because I am happy with the fact that it obscures prying eyes from being able to see into my front room in the evenings, but I can see how this may not be the case for others, and a major factor that causes quite a few bouts of unpleasantness for other people who may live next door to a similar sun-obscuring botanical growth.
I have found some information which I hope that LPG will share about the rules surrounding this age old problem and what you can do about it.
HW. Grove Park.
LPG has found the information that HW was keen to share with fellow readers and a few more posts on the subject. We also found some of the details from the Rights of Light Act 1959 which puts this issue into perspective.
