Thinking ‘about back home’ today

Dear LPG,
With the help of my new smart phone I am learning more and more about how to keep in contact with my family which is scattered all over the world. WhatsApp made it possible for one of my Jamaican cousins to send me something that I would like to share with my fellow readers on this rather significant day.
Today I would like to ask LPG to indulge those celebrating by dedicating a poem to all the Jamaican people living in Lewisham, England and all over the world. Today is the 56th anniversary of Jamaica’s independence from the United Kingdom, and I am sure that there will be many pensioners who were born and grew up in that part of the world who will be celebrating with parties and events, while others will be reminiscing about the warm climate, family members who are still living their lives out there and the pensioners who opted to go back home once they retired.
It will not mean much to anyone who hasn’t lived there but the poem that follows should make all the Jamaicans who read it smile.
