How to best deal with that special springtime present from my cat….
26 May 2019
Dear LPG,
I read your pages with interest and find myself quite fascinated with some of the really off the wall subjects that LPG cover.
Being a cat owner I found the article that was posted on June 1st 2018, with the title ‘How Fat Is Fat When It Comes to Your Cat’ particularly attention-grabbing.
I have a cat, who I have now learned, could be a little thinner, and I would like to say that I have had a look at the advice-links which were featured at the bottom of that post and found them very enlightening. I learned a lot from taking the five minutes needed to check, but there is another problem that they are responsible for in the spring of each year and that is their need to moult.
When she gets started I cannot hoover fast enough to keep up with all the bits of hair that are left all over my carpet, and when my friends drop in it looks as if I have forgotten where the vacuum cleaner is kept in my house. I know it is a temporary state and the hair will eventually stop being everywhere but last year I decided that I should let Google do the looking and find out if there is any advice that I could follow to improve the state of my home during each spring.
Google has suggested brushing, food supplements and even giving your cat a bath, although I have to say that I think that my cat would think she was being punished if I tried that. There were also some good tips for getting the hairs off furniture and carpets which might help although I have to say that I have only tried some of them so far.
I don’t think that I am the only cat owner with this problem so I wanted to share this with my fellow readers in reparation for this year’s shedding season.

LPG was asked to pass on some of the links that SW found when researching and we also found a few YouTube clips which may be of help if you want to go down the bathing your cat route, although LPG would suggest that finding someone much younger and stronger than yourself may be the way to go if you want to try something as drastic as that.
