Winter Colds; may I be the first to ‘bless you’?
21 Oct 2018
Dear LPG,
I am writing this note in the summer of 2018 in the hope that LPG will print it a little later in the year. I am sad to admit that I am one of those people who is looking forward to a time when Lewisham is just a little cooler; a time when our climate is behaving itself in a fashion that we are more used to.
Perhaps readers will be able to cast their minds back to mid-July this year when we were experiencing a really sunny heatwave and I remember that I was not alone in quietly complaining about the effects of being quite worn down by the relentlessly hot weather.
While writing I find myself thinking heat-provoking thoughts of the cooler autumn months but, as we are winding our way towards winter it is time to start thinking about colds and the ‘flu jab again I suppose. I am one of those people that finds themselves really congested during the winter which is a time when I am always aware that many of the words I say that should begin with an ‘n’ begin with a ‘d’ instead.
I am a Googler and agree with TM of Crofton Park who wrote about the odd things one finds when indulging in the habit on September 2nd. I think that I may have found some help for people who suffer from being all ‘stuffed’ up during the winter months and, used in conjunction with all the other usual prevention medication and practises, I hope that the information offered in the links I have asked LPG to add to my message might help us be a little more prepared this year.
I hope it helps, and would like to be the first to offer those words ‘bless you’ in preparation for your first sneeze of this winter.
