A little more help for the Neck and Back.
19 Jan 2019
Dear LPG,
I do attend weekly exercise classes but wanted to offer an idea for those who don’t go to a regular class, whatever the reason.
I was really interested in something I read on your website not so long ago. On January 9th this year when HB wrote a little about what you can do to help with back pain which is something that affects me and so many of my friends of a certain age. At the bottom of the post there was a link which transported anyone who clicked on it to a video of a lady who showed some exercises that may help such pain if done regularly, but although the ladies demonstrating appeared to be a lot older than me I found that I could not do a lot of what was shown.
In spite of this I was spurred on to take a look at the YouTube website myself and I found the video which I am going to ask LPG to feature today. It shows some alternative neck and shoulder yoga-inspired exercises that may be easier for some readers to follow. One last thing that is really important ... You don’t have to do any video exercise as well as the teacher the first time. Remember to just do what you can and be gentle with yourself. You will get better, and getting there should be something for you to aim at.
I suppose it is a case of just finding the one that works for you, and there is not really a wrong or right video, just the one that suits you best. Finally, at the beginning of my message I did mention that I do regular exercise every week and I really do know that my back feels a bit better for it in many ways, but I find that the extra five minutes it takes to do this each morning makes even more of a difference.

LPG does agree with TR here, but would again mention the usual warning.
We always suggest that you check with your GP before you start just in case they can think of a reason that you, in particular, should not take part, and can we also mention that when doing any exercise with the help of a video, it is a good idea to have a friend taking part or, at least, around just in case anything goes wrong.
