Cheers and no smears…

02 Mar 2019

Dear LPG,

I am a pensioner who likes to go out for a drink with my friends, but one thing that I really have a problem with is being given one in a glass that is not up to standard.  I have lived alone for some time now and, since I found myself living alone some 12 years ago, I have become quite the domestic go… well let’s say I have become quite domesticated.

I have to admit that I did, before that time, depend on my wife to do all those things for me without paying any real attention to the hard work and detail that needs to be spent on keeping house.  I expected and accepted the house to be up to standard and it always was until I had no one else to do it for me, but now I have gradually become very fussy about where things are kept and checking for dust etc.

One of the things that has always bothered me is my washing up because I find that my glassware, drinking glasses in particular, always appear smeared and I have wondered why until now.

I recently read a report about the hard water that we have in the London area which affects many aspects of our lives, even though we may not realise it.  But the report also mentioned that adding some vinegar to your washing up liquid before you use it makes all the difference.

I know that most ladies will already know this, but for the many gentlemen who now have to deal with their own washing up, getting the drinking glasses just right is paramount, if you have friends over for a drink.  Especially if they are as fussy about their glasses like me.

GD, Beckenham.

LPG found some evidence which supports GD’s findings and hopes that whether you are male or female, if you have not tried this before it will make a difference to your washing up in spite of  our Lewisham hard water area.
