Getting all four corners together…

18 Oct 2019

Dear LPG,

I know that many pensioners depend on carers to do the housework as they get older, but as one of those who still does most things for themselves, I know how much longer it takes me to get to the other end of some of those tasks even though I have spent much of my life taking them for granted as part of a fairly inconvenient but necessary part of life whatever your age.

While tasks such as dusting just take longer, and consequently don’t get done quite as often as they used to, there are some tasks that you just have to call an assistant in to achieve as time goes by and I find that changing the duvet cover comes into that category, because my ability to be able to violently shake the ensemble so that the outer and inner parts become attached at the corners properly has gradually become more than I can cope with alone.

The last time that I felt the need to do this, I called a neighbour who helped and she did that in more ways than one.  She showed me a completely new way to do the task.  She had learned about it while looking on You Tube, and I would be really selfish not to pass that information on to my fellow readers.

I have to say that it looked complicated when I first tried it but it really does work and the effort of learning the new technique far outweighs the physical exertion that accompanies the original method in terms of the amount of strain on the arms.

I have left some links that I hope readers will try…
