Opposing elements – same outcome?
26 Oct 2019
Dear LPG,
I read with interest the article that was posted on June 27th this year (►►►), and have to admit that, like TP I have not done a lot about sorting my papers. I often make a point of getting some papers together in November each year so that I can burn them while all the bonfires are being burned, but as the years go by it appears that fewer and fewer bonfires are lit on Guy Fawkes night, and the louder more elaborate fireworks don’t really do the same job of disguising all the smoke that my incinerator manages to produce.
I learned recently of another way to dispense with those old personal documents which does not cause smoke pollution or leave large amounts of ashes to deal with. One of my friends told me that there is more than one element that will do the trick and, after being given a little hint, I went to the internet and was surprised to find quite a bit of information on how to soak all that sensitive personal print away.
I am hoping that LPG will add the links at the end of my message The person who told about this method of paper disposal also mentioned that the print will disappear even if you don’t add the bleach that most of the internet demonstration suggest. The print may take a little longer to fade but the resulting pulp can be used when turning over the soil in the garden and the wood content of the pulp will make it a good source of nutrients for the plants.
LY, Catford.
