I like their style

18 Jan 2020

Dear LPG readers,

I want to address my comments today to all those individuals who have surpassed their ‘three score years and ten’, and who have reached that milestone in reasonably good health while continuing to enjoy life.   Respect to you.

I have had this thought for a long time, but never revealed it (one’s thoughts are private sometimes),  but someone recently mentioned to me  exactly what I was thinking which somehow gives me the licence to reveal my thoughts on the subject.

I am hearing stories that a lot of elderly women (widows) are determined to enjoy money in diverse creative ways while taking on board the attitude, ‘why should I leave all my money to the uncaring ungrateful children and grandchildren that show me limited love or evidence that they care about me.  We live in the same country, the same borough and even the same area so they have no real excuse.’   To them I say, ‘good for you!’

Most men are less sentimental, and I count myself as one of the ‘most men’ I am talking about here.  We see the facts and act accordingly. Why should I love and care about these individuals who don’t show any love or feelings of care towards me?  The individual who coined the phrase ‘unconditional love’ is an idiot and that is my opinion.

I am not sure, but I have often thought that I would be tempted to walk out of the funeral service of a close friend that I knew whose children and grandchildren had never given them love when they were alive.  I don’t think I could sit and watch as they cried and expressed their love and respect when the deceased was no longer around to appreciate it.

I think that this should be the thinking of septuagenarians and that they should spend and enjoy their money, because so many of their family members don’t really deserve any financial legacy.
