Dear LPG,

We have to agree that we have had a really warm summer this year, but I got up this morning and there was a hint of things to come.  I did not sense a hot and sweaty feeling or the need to have a drink of really cold water as soon as I got up, and the reality that winter is on the way became all too evident.  So cold mornings, condensation and good old fashioned frost are on their way again and I suddenly felt the need to remind readers about the fact that we need to get prepared.

I am one of those older motorists that the rest of the world is being told to be wary of and, while I know that it will not happen for a month or two yet, the mornings when we want to get out and about only to find frost on the windscreens are coming again. 

It occurred to me that now may be a good time to remind other readers that drive about the importance of being able to see through car windows before you get moving, so I took a look on the internet for any ideas that we may have missed so far.  

It is both dangerous and illegal to drive with a misty windscreen and even though we pensioners rarely have to leave home early in the mornings anymore, you just have to take a look out of your window to see the neighbours running their car engines and scraping their windscreens at a time when they would rather have already set off.

There is lots of advice and much of it was the sort that we all know and have to remind ourselves of as each winter creeps upon us, but I also found some night-before prevention tips and an experiment that some readers may find interesting.  I wonder if anyone else has considered toothpaste or vinegar as a night-before misty-windscreen deterrent. 

So, while there is still just a hint of mild morning weather with us, I thought I would pass on my findings.
