Unconditional Air however sunny it is outside …

15 Dec 2019

Dear LPG

I recently went on a trip to see some members of my family who live in Florida where it is known to be really hot climate-wise.  A family group were off for a family reunion and I was really looking forward to spending a couple of weeks away from the British October.

Once we had arrived I was instantly aware of the tropical air and the warmth which must be a very big part of the temptation that holidaymakers find so magnetic when choosing exotic holiday destinations.

I have to say that the trip from the airport to the hotel was pretty waring for someone who is used to overcoat whether and I really did appreciate the Air conditioned hotel room when we first arrived, after all, when it is hot in England I am one of the ‘overwork your right wrist brigade’ as I grab hold of any bit of paper which will serve as a fan, but I was really not prepared for just how draughty and unforgiving that cold air pumped into your bedroom can be.

In the light of the destination I was aiming for, I thought that there would be no need whatsoever to take a cardigan with me although I did have the common sense to know that some rain protection would be needed.   I have to say that I would have looked a bit odd in the holiday pictures sitting in the hotel lobby with a rain mac huddled around me while it was so sunny outside, but for the fact that I was not the only family member shivering while the sun Shon through the windows.

I thought that it may be a good idea to warn any LPG reader planning their first trip to tropical climes that they should take a couple of pairs of warm pyjamas and jumpers in spite of the expected beautiful sunny weather, because even if the weather is idyllic, the Air conditioning can be pretty punishing.
