Ways to keep a little road map little… perhaps?

10 Jan 2020

Dear LPG,

I know that more ladies will relate to what I want to address today although I do know that there are quite a few gentlemen who will also know exactly what I am talking about here.

I am now so well into my sixties that my seventies are not that far away, but it must have been about thirty years ago that I first discovered what almost looked like a little two-inch square road map at the back of my upper left calf.  There was not that much to see, although I could see it, and I have to say it did worry me a little at the time.  I suppose that men have the advantage of trousers, but when getting dressed in the mornings my tights hid it quite well, and I remember trying to ignore it because there were much more important things for me to worry about at the time.

I suppose I have been quite lucky because now, thirty plus years later, it has turned into a three-inch map although I know that many people get them and they have a habit of getting a lot bigger and more pronounced as time goes by.  Now I am older my skirts are a little longer and even in the summer I feel that I have learned how to keep my little roadmap patch conveniently hidden.

I am lucky because mine did not turn into a full-scale case of varicose veins, but I also know that it could have and does for many women as well as men, so I count myself lucky that I did nothing and nothing much happened to me.

I was Googling one day not so long ago and found some interesting information.  There are the medical injections and procedures that cure bad cases, but I found quite a lot of precautions that can be taken when the problem first makes an appearance, that may help and wondered if they might be of interest to LPG readers.

I have asked LPG to add some links to the end of my message.

HL offers some useful information most of which is presented in video form…

But LPG also found some related sites and suggests that special attention is paid to the recommendations at the bottom of the second offering below…
