Every picture tells a story (chapter 9) – London skies can be beautiful too.

Dear LPG,
We all remember those pictures of our grandparents standing absolutely still and expressionless; the ones which were far and few between because of the amount of money, and time involved in actually getting one in your hand. It is amazing that we have moved from there through the age of the box brownie and the expensive and time-consuming wait while the photos were taken down to Boots or some other chemist to be developed, and when the holiday snap became one of the most important souvenirs.
I have never been much of a traveller unlike many of my family and friends, and over the years, in pre-electronic days I can remember many an ‘après-holiday’ get-together where you would be invited to sit through a night of looking at the many pictures that were taken during the host’s recent holiday.
I never really found it important to take pictures until I was recently given my first smart phone which was one of my nephew’s cast-offs. I don’t know much about what can be done with it but the two things I have learned is how to answer it and how to take a picture.
I have listened to many of my holiday-making friends arguing about all the beautiful skies that they have seen on their travels and sadly London never seems to be included. I think that a beautiful sky can be taken anywhere, and at any time of year, and would like to offer this picture which, I took earlier today in Lewisham, on a relatively miserable December afternoon. I would argue that, even though there is no sun setting on an exotic horizon, it is beautiful in its own unique way and proves that we can find beautiful and unique views of God’s sky where ever we are when we look up.
I hope that readers agree and that it will inspire a few more to get their phones out and press the camera app.
SP, Lee
