Dear LPG,

By now regular readers of LPG will be used to my poetic offerings but I recently learned, having read last year’s LPG contribution, that today is National Poetry day and I wrote this one some time ago now.  I hope that it offers a little food for thought to LPG readers….

RETREAT PRAYER

Lord, I come for the silence,

For precious time to reflect

On myself and You in me,

On others and You in them

On You in everyone and everything.

Precious time to consider myself,

How I am using the talents

You go on giving me on my journey

Some long recognised, some to be revealed.

Help me to see and understand.

Precious time to consider others,

Near, dear or far away.

Help me to see You in everyone,

Known, just met, still to meet

And to be close to them, as You are.

Precious time to know Your presence

Constant, uplifting, affirming,

Enriching yesterday, today, for ever.

In silent contemplation, awe and amazement,

Fill me with joy and, at the end, peace.
