Versed thoughts (chapter 25): Exchanging Hearts

14 Feb 2021

Dear LPG readers,

I have promised a monthly poem and I ask that you accept this one for February.   I am pleased to hear that a few more poems have been offered for your pages during the past year.   I think that every poetry writer needs to look at the other side of the coin from time to time and I often read the work of other creators of the rhyming word, often finding myself lost in the thoughts that are born from what I learn from them.

I have asked LPG to post this poem today because of its relevance to a day which should be so dedicated to such matters, and I also register my wish that all who read the words, no matter what age; all those who are still in love, or who have found love recently, make use of today and every other to exchange feelings which so often are bypassed in our modern world…

EXCHANGING HEARTS

Heart to heart we fell in love

Exchanging hearts as pledges of everlasting sincerity.

My heart is with you wherever I go

At home, abroad, in city or grove.

Sweetheart – a daily naming

Heartfelt – an enduring commitment

Never forgetting Valentine’s Day

At home, abroad, in city or grove

Heart ache, when you were gone

Mind and heart filled with sorrow

But joyful remembrance replenished the void

At home, abroad, in city or grove.

Searching the heart, knowing the love

Exchanging hearts, magnificent investment, pure ecstasy.
