Gentleman, please take a serious lockdown look in the mirror.

Dear LPG,
One day not so long ago I heard my wife in passing as she had a bit of a chat with one of her friends on the phone. She was doing what so many of us have been instructed to do during these lock-down days, in accordance with the advice that every section of the media is offering. She was making one of her friends feel better by having a bit of a telephone chat. But they were talking about something that I think a little negative during a chat designed to lift the spirits. Have you ever noticed how the ladies always seem to feel a need to broach this subject and, since we have all been confined to quarters, I suspect that I am not the only man who has heard their other half complain about the cruel effect that coronavirus has had on their figures?
I just passed the open door of the room where she was chatting as I walked down the hall, but then I caught my reflection in the full length hall mirror in the harsh light of day. I had one of those moments of realisation…
Folks I too have become a victim of the Pandemic lock-down. I have put on weight and saw a version of myself in that mirror that was unfit. I used to go to the gym at least twice a week before all this happened and, as I looked in that mirror, a version of me that I was not impressed with looked back at me.
A couple of overheard words on the subject and one glance in a full length mirror reminded me of how things have changed. My chest used to be bigger than my belly, but now it’s the other way round and I don’t like it one bit. I used to weigh myself on my visits to the doctors and retain my printed results, but having taken a look in the mirror, if I got a record slip today I would not dare to look at it because it would embarrass me, and now that I am taking more notice, my trousers don’t fit in the same way and my dressing shirts are a bit tighter too (I tried one on just to check).
I have come to the conclusion that I seriously have to do something drastic about getting fit again because I normally used to enjoy doing physical exercise, but that is on hold and I am missing it. What my ears heard and my eyes saw that day motivated me to take a look on line and I found an exercise session or two that might make a bit of a difference, so I have asked LPG to pass them on.
So Gentlemen, just in case your ears are not as sharp as mine, let me pass on the lesson that I learned from a couple of overheard female words and suggest that we take a serious look in the mirror and act accordingly.
Rudy
LPG, as always would remind readers to approach any exercise with caution if you are trying it for the first time, and suggests that you contact your GP if necessary.
