Little bits of pension, lost and found perhaps?

19 Oct 2021

Dear LPG readers,

I was taking a look at the internet recently and found a bit of information that might be helpful to more than just me and thought it worth highlighting.

Quite a few of us oldies were the workers of the world when it was still accepted that many people would find a job and stay working in that job for most of our working lives, but times changed in the 1960s and 1970s and it became much easier to change the industry that you worked in or just change jobs within your chosen world of work quite quickly, and I know that I was one of those who did quite a bit of that.

The result of all that chopping and changing is that there may well be jobs that you did for a while and where you paid towards an occupational pension that you never actually got.  I think, that for many of us pensioners, every penny counts and there will be jobs that you did for a while and paid into a pensions scheme, but where you have lost touch.  I thought about this recently and it occurred to me that I am in that situation, so I decided to look and find out if I am really missing out on a small pension.

I found myself checking on the internet and I have read a little about how to trace those employers and check to find out if you are owed a small pension, and now that I have found this information I thought it might be worth passing it on.

I hope that it is helpful for a few readers …
