Dear LPG,

OK, so now we have bought them, or at least some of them, and we have reached stage two.

I bet that some of the readers out there in LPG land have done most of the Christmas present buying, and you are now at stage two of this part of the preparation package and putting it off for as long as possible.    I am talking about the wrapping stage of the process. 

I am now going back a couple of years to when many of us were fairly sure of hosting or visiting friends and family for some part of what we now call Christmas week, and the exchange of Christmas presents will be an important part of those meetings. 

If, like me, you a part of a family that gets together and piles all the presents up for a grand opening session, you can often tell who wrapped what not only by the recurring pattern of the wrapping paper but by the standard of wrapping.  I have a son who’s presents are usually so well wrapped that getting into them is the main challenge because of the way that the tape covers every edge.   There is no place left where you can get your nails under to start the paper pulling process.  I also have a cousin who uses that paper that just does not tear but stretches instead.  She tells that if, like her, you find yourself carrying too large a collection of your wrapped offerings at one time and drop one, the stronger paper is less likely to split causing the need to rewrap or patch the job.  My presents are usually conspicuous because of the lack of tape and gaping gaps which has always been the signature of my technique and leaves little to the imagination, so just in case we can gather on the big day this year, I have decided that this has to change.

I looked at the internet for some ideas and found some videos which I hope will help with the wrapping of those presents with odd shapes, and I would like to share them so that, any readers who understand exactly what I am talking about when someone gets one of their presents receives something a little less like one of my usual offerings this year. Although double sided tape seems to be one way forwards.
