A resolution that will do you good if you start it at any time of the year
29 Jan 2022
Dear LPG,
I have decided on a New Year’s Resolution which I have tried unsuccessfully for the past four years, but I read something which might just give me a reason to stick to it this year.
I think that when you live alone, even if you have no problem with doing so you can get lazy. (I really should have put the word ‘I’ in the previous sentence on the two occasions where I used the word ‘you’).
The great advantage of living alone is that you don’t have as many things that you really need to do within a certain timeframe. You get up when you want and you eat when you want and, after the past couple of years, many of us have learnt to do and not to do lots of other things too.
One thing that I often skip is breakfast, even though I have spent so much of my life being told that it is the most important meal of the day, but I have resolved to remedy that.
I think the pandemic has and continues to leave many of us getting up later and skipping the first meal of the day altogether, but did you know that doing that might result in your putting on weight rather than losing it.
I have found more than one online report that tells of research that proves this and, if nothing has given me a reason to make sure I have something to eat in the mornings, that thought has.
I think that the monotony of eating the same thing every morning has something to do with my reluctance to get to the kitchen earlier, so I looked at some alternative ideas for getting your stomach to start the day a little earlier and having found them I would like to share them.
Please remember it is never too late to start a resolution and, if you have any interesting and unusual breakfast ideas that fit the bill, I would love to see them on this website…
