One aspect of ‘Lewisham lost’…

28 Apr 2022

Dear LPG,

This message is definitely for those who have been around for a bit.

These days, if you want to see a good film it is all about getting one of the children to help you stream it to your television, but when I was young going to the cinema was something that every young one did on a Saturday morning and there were so many to choose from.

Most of us who are old enough to remember, are most likely to have spent some time in the back row with our girlfriends or boyfriends as teenagers too.  I bet that there are quite a few LPG readers who will know exactly what I am talking about and who will also be part of the generation that has spent a lifetime watching the Cinemas that were so popular back in those days gradually disappear from our streets.

I stumbled upon a couple of thought-provoking web pages that might bring back a few memories, and I would like to share them for those who vaguely recall the Cinema map of Lewisham which has been replaced over the years…

HS shares some memories of going to the cinema back in the day…
