Are you the only person you do not disturb when you are asleep?

Dear LPG,
When I was young, like so many other children who grew up in a time when, if you woke up in the middle of the night there would only be one noise to be heard. You would be aware of your dad’s snoring. My dad was loud, and the snoring would start as soon as his eyes closed, even for forty winks. I suppose that we just got used to it in the end, but he insisted that he did not snore, and it was easier to just agree back in the day.
But now I have it on very good authority that I do it too and my partner tells me that I am quite loud. Even though I have never heard it myself, I do snore. My family taped me doing it before I truly believed.
The recording happened years ago, yet my family still put up with me and I have tried many things in my attempts to stop. For me, those nose plasters didn’t work, and I had real problems with the chin strap. I even tried one of those anti-snore bracelets, but nothing really works.
During a trip around the internet, I recently learnt that snoring can be a symptom of something much more serious that might be going on health wise and, as some 60% of us do it (often developing the habit as we get older), I wanted to remind readers that it might be worth taking your problem to your GP to make sure that you are not suffering from anything that needs investigating.
I have also found a few ideas that might work for you if you have not tried them before because if you can get the volume down a little, it cannot be a bad thing…
