Remember that council tax rebate?
30 Jun 2022
Dear LPG,
I just want to remind readers about the government’s decision to provide each householder who owns a property in bands A – D with a £150.00 rebate to help with utility bills. That was ‘hot off the press’ news in early February 2022 and I remember at the time hearing that many of these payments were not likely to be made until as late as September 2022.
I suspect that quite a few council taxpayers who qualify, and pay by direct debit, may have forgotten about it after all this time.
So, the point of my message is to remind readers to check their bank statements and make sure that they have not been missed. I have asked LPG to print it twice. Once in early-September to make sure that LPG readers remember to check their bank statements and, if missed, chase their payments.
I have also asked them if they would print it in late June 2022 to remind those qualifying house owners who do not pay their council tax via direct debit that, according to Lewisham Council’s website, they should have received a letter by now explaining how they are to be reimbursed.
I hope that my message will serve as a reminder to all LPG readers who this affects, to check to make sure that they have received any payments they should be entitled to.
