Security issues; this one’s really not your problem…

Dear LPG,
I found something out when browsing the internet which really got me quite worried and, now that I have found out why what happened did happen, I feel the need to pass on what I have learned.
Now that I have mastered the art of looking around the internet, I often find that looking up one piece of information often leads to yet another question which I want answered, and so I get myself a new google page and carry on. But one day not so long ago I found that my search led me to the webpage that is pictured above. I don’t know about you but while I feel quite comfortable navigating the pages of the web at the moment, whenever anything to do with the word ‘security’ comes up I start to get quite worried, and this truly managed to shake all the confidence that I have acquired. I started off by wondering if I had found myself on one of those websites you hear about where the minute you click one time too many your computer gets infected with a virus. I have to admit that all sorts of scenarios went through my head. I was truly worried about what I had done wrong.
It turns out that when you aim to visit a webpage but arrive at a message like, ‘This site can’t provide a secure connection’, it is the website you are trying to access which has the problem and this is the internet system’s way of protecting you from anything that might harm your device.
I found some information which advises that you steer clear of any website which brings you to this message when you try to access it and, I just thought that now I have worked this out, it is worth sharing so that a few more people are less worried if they happen to come across such a message when they are on their browsing journey…

OB managed to find an online explanation but suggests that, unless you have a website of your own, you skip the first half of the article and read the bit that comes under the heading, ‘For Website Visitors’…
