Dear LPG readers, 

As we again find ourselves in the middle of Random Acts of Kindness week we, at LPG, want to remind readers that our organisation is not above mentioning that we could do with a little help too.   

There are so many organisations that could do with an extra volunteer or two. LPG is one such organisation, although helping us out if possible, has become something that the internet has made a lot less time-consuming than it ever was.  

While we are always looking for online volunteers to help with administrative tasks, the most important help we can get are the stories, opinions, poems, recipes and any other thoughts that can be shared.  

We have spent the past 38 years trying our best to make sure that what we older people think has a place to be shared in print and, over the past five years, on the internet as well, because a little time spent on the various web pages makes one thing clear to us. 

There is so much information, about everything, to be found online. Still, while that includes issues that we oldies are likely to be more interested in, it is so often the case that experts are offering what are very valued opinions. Still, the people most likely to have experienced the realities of being a pensioner are the people least likely to write about it.

We do know that for many pensioners, accessing internet pages is a feat in itself. Still, our organisation is dedicated to ensuring that the thoughts, concerns and stories experienced by the world's pensioners are represented online as often as the opinions of the younger people who can only share their theories about getting older.

If you are a reader with a thought or opinion to offer, please remember that a telephone call, letter or email is all that’s needed. We are very willing to do the writing for you, we make sure that what you have to say is posted as anonymously as you want it to be, and we also make sure that you see precisely what will be posted on our pages before it goes live. 

So, if you are, or know, a pensioner who perhaps has recently retired and is I.T. savvy we would love to hear from you, we could also do with some admin volunteers too. Many of the tasks we need help with are likely to take less than an hour a week of your time, can be done with the use of a computer, the internet and no need to even leave home.  

If you can write and send an email, you have sufficient computer skills to help us with our work. We even have most of our editorial meetings via video calling.

A story on any subject from time to time would be truly appreciated, but if you can make a slightly more ongoing commitment to our cause, we would appreciate that too.
