Why Are Parks Important?
02 Nov 2017
We are lucky to live in London, a city full of great parks and green spaces. When the summertime comes, we all feel like spending more time outdoors, and when the sun is out, going to the park is always a good plan. Parks have many health benefits. For example, simply going to the park for a walk can reduce stress and increase happiness.
Parks are important for many reasons. They provide space for neighbours to interact with each other and to meet new people. They can also host events and activities that contribute to the development of a sense of community. There are environmental reasons for keeping parks too, as trees remove pollutants from the air and make the air cleaner.
Did you know that there are 45 local parks and 13 nature reserves in Lewisham? There is, for sure, a park that is close to where you live, but discovering new green spaces where you haven’t been before can be an exciting and healthy pastime. You can visit parks alone, but you can also go with your friends or relatives. Going to the park is actually a great activity that you could enjoy with your grandchildren.
