Tips to check when taking the test.

07 Jul 2024

Dear LPG readers,

I recently went for my biennial eye test and nothing particularly remarkable happened, but I later found this video which perhaps it would have been more valuable for me to have seen before I had attended.

It is American but advises of things that I know I did when my peepers were being tested and I suspect that I am not the only person who does their best to say and do the right things.   The video will make you rethink a few things that so many of us do to make the process a bit easier for all concerned but we could be doing that for everything but the most important component of the test; our eyes…

When one eye is covered and I have been told to look at something through the other one, I admit to having done it with the other eye shut tight which is not the best way forward, and there is that question that you are often asked about if one image is clearer than the other.  Fighting to find a reason why one is more clear when they look both the same, is something that I have to admit to having done more than once.  The video explains why that and many other little things that so many of us do during our sight tests should be avoided.

I will never know now if the way I reacted to the demands of my last one-on-one with the ophthalmologist affected the glasses that I ended up with, but one thing is for sure, and that is that I will be taking a refresher course in getting the best outcome when being the subject of an eye test by watching the video again before I go for my next one…

RR, share the video that she thinks we should all watch before our next sight test…
