Versed thoughts (chapter 70): Bitter Sweet and In Between.

05 Aug 2024

Dear LPG readers,

We all have them, and as we age, taking too much time to remember our memories can affect our lives.

Some leave us content and with a quiet smile on our faces, while others can upset us. Even our happiest memories can leave us sad as we lament because we cannot repeat them. But for all that, I feel sure that most of us would not be without them.

My poem today offers my thoughts on how our memories can affect us…

BITTER, SWEET, AND IN BETWEEN

Bitter, sweet and in between are memories of the past,

But as strange as it may seem, I chose not to be downcast.

Yet as far back as my infancy, life was harsh and cruel to me.

My youthful days had ups and downs, but all is well where love abounds!

Love for one, and love for all, whether great or whether small.

And as you live, and as you grow, gradually you will see and know;

Life has its diversities, and it focuses on sweet memories.

Bitter cups for young and old are being handed out worldwide.

And whether one is wrong or right,

The enemy will choose to fight.

 If you say ‘peace’, they will shout WAR!

Seething with hate, then go too far;

Lurking about and telling lies,

Making up stories and threatening lives…

Do not be put off by bad memories,

For the bitter and the sweet will never cease.

The bitter, the sweet, and the in-between,

You should purge your soul and make it clean.

The bitter, the sweet, and the in-between,

Will purge your soul and make it clean.
