Decide the future of Lewisham
10 Aug 2017
We pensioners have our own needs and concerns, as well as other groups have theirs. We all have to work together to find the best solutions to our problems and achieve improvements that can benefit all the different groups in Lewisham. That is why it is so important to learn different points of views on how to make our borough better: maybe you think that you know what the best solution is, but maybe you are not aware of the fact that your solution can be detrimental to others.
Fortunately, there is a way to know what other people think of how to improve Lewisham: the local assemblies. The aim of local assemblies is to provide a space where you and others can decide how to improve your area. In these meetings you can discuss what matters to you, find out what is going on in your ward and how funding is being spent, and work with your councilors and others to shape the future of your neighbourhood.
As you probably know, Lewisham is divided into 18 wards, each of which have a local assembly that meet up to four times a year (you can find out which ward and assembly you belong to by typing your postcode here: http://councilmeetings.lewisham.gov.uk/mgFindMember.aspx?). If you want to get involved, you simply have to come along to your local assembly. Check out the calendar of meetings and find out when your next local assembly is taking place: http://councilmeetings.lewisham.gov.uk/mgCalendarMonthView.aspx?GL=1&bcr=1&CT=13268
