The Lewisham Pensioners Gazette is a small local charity whose principal activity is the production and distribution of a quarterly newspaper. The paper is produced by and for pensioners, and represents an independent voice for expressing their ideas and informing them about specific issues both national and local, and has done this since 1984.
We encourage maximum interaction with our readership by holding regular events throughout the borough to meet our readers, understand their views and capture their stories. Our directors and volunteers are actively involved in pensioner organisations. We frequently join in pensioner activities and events across the borough. These interactions provide a rich source of material for articles in the paper. We work together with our readers to tell their stories.
The paper is distributed free to pensioners via a network of organisations that have a high level of interaction within them. These include: Age Concern, Bingo Halls, Bowls Clubs, Chemists, Churches, Community Halls, Dentists, Doctors Surgeries, Lewisham Hospital, Lewisham Theatre, libraries, Meals on wheels, Lewisham Pensioners’ Forum, Public Houses (mainly Wetherspoons), Salvation Army, Sheltered Housing facilities, Supermarkets, and anywhere likely to service the needs of pensioners.
The paper cannot survive without the active participation of Lewisham pensioners. We need volunteer members with a passion for writing to join our friendly editorial team, we also need volunteers with a moderate level of computer literacy to help maintain and develop the organisation towards a sustainable future.
In order to ensure your copy as soon as it is available you can become a subscriber/member for just £6 per annum (or 4 copies) and this will entitle you to influence the annual vote for our officers; something that members do not have to attend our AGM in order to do, although we welcome readers’ presence at all times. A posted quarterly copy of each issue could also make a nice gift to older family members who have moved away from the borough but would still like to maintain an interest.
As an advertiser of local services we are aware that our readers can often be amongst the more vulnerable in society and therefore we encourage those who use our advertisers’ services to give us feedback. We also listen to our readers in order to develop an advertising policy that offers them a measure of reassurance that we vet our advertisers and would be prepared to mediate in the event of a dispute.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
