Dear LPG,  

I know that most of your posts are quite long but I wonder if you can find a space for a few short words I found written on a scrap of paper quite a few years ago now.  They represent an idea that got me thinking about the way I live and also my first try at writing something that I hope will inspire some of your readers to think a little more about what a friend truly is. 

When I first read them they got me thinking about the way that I have treated some of my friends throughout the years, and trying to offer the friendship they describe has helped me to think again, and repair some of the friendships that I have not taken as seriously as I could have.  

Some might find them a little patronising and idealistic but I think they are worth considering… 


Be a Blessing and a friend  

Encourage someone and take time to care 
Let your words heal and not wound 
Take time each day to see nature, love and beauty in the world around you. 

I can’t say that living by these rules is easy but they are not a bad set of rules to aspire to…  

I don’t know who first wrote them but since I first read them my unconscious attitude towards the people around me who matter has changed just a little and for the better I think…
