Dear LPG readers,  

I know through many years of experience that, for most, birthdays get a little less significant each year. When we are young, we look forward to them and the presents that are an obligatory part of the celebration.  There are the parties and your friends and the feeling that it is all about you for just one day a year, and when it is your siblings' turn, your vision would have often turned a quiet but envious shade of green as you watch them opening their gifts.  

When it comes to us oldies, it can often take half the year to remember to add an extra 1 to the number we give when asked that age-old question, ‘and how old are you now?’  But when the presents are less significant because you have had so many and there is honestly nothing you really need, the best thing has to be that feeling you get when your friends and family remind you that you are loved, appreciated and remembered on your special day. 

I think that this is the inspiration for my poem today… 




BIRTHDAY LOVELINESS 


It is not about the amount of gifts we bear or anything like that. 
Birthday Greetings and cheers mean much, much more to me. 
Birthday love from the heart is Oh so sweet! 
Birthday loveliness that cannot be compared to anything that is natural on this earth. 

The priceless gift of genuine love, precious, deep and gracious, fills the heart, the mind, the soul; not just on one specific day, but throughout those twelve long months. 

Birthday love goes on and on; it grows and grows; it is limitless… or so it seems.  And as the one on whom this ‘Birthday Loveliness’ is focused today is blessed, so are those who are a part of their lives, as they continue to accompany them throughout the year and seek to offer Comfort and Hope when it is needed: by speaking words that are meaningful as well as uplifting to the inner self, in times of stress, when one’s emotion is at its lowest.
