A new lifestyle for Lewisham Bugs.

11 Aug 2017

Did you know that on Tuesday August 15th seniors’ will be hosting a ‘Build a Bug Hotel’ event between 11 o’clock in the morning and 4 o’clock in the afternoon.

Now, we hear our readers asking why LPG would be bringing this fact to their readers’ attention.

We know that there are many hands-on Grandmothers and Grandfathers, in the borough and beyond, who are racking their brains while they think of interesting things to do with the summer holiday days that they share, and even if architecture is not the first idea they would choose, attending such an event with said grandchildren has so many advantages.

  1. The gardens are really worth visiting if you have not been before, or even if you have.

  1. The Phoenix Café boasts some seriously tasty accompaniments for a cup of tea or coffee, while the younger ones enjoy learning a useful skill for the future.  Their food is good but their cakes are awesome.

  1. You are bound to meet people with whom you can share interesting conversation while your grandchildren are engrossed in the activity of learning one way that they can help to conserve the existence of species that are gradually being driven away from our gardens.

  1. Depending on your level of commitment when it comes to getting down, a bit dirty and stuck in, just imagine yourself watching your grandchildren so engaged that you get to watch someone else doing the baby sitting for up to five whole hours.

  1. And the participants will get to take their mini bug hotels home with them at the end of the event.

All are welcome to drop in at any time, and the day is open to all age groups so you could bring the children’s parents too if they are available, and note that you don't have to have a child in toe to come and get involved.

There is no charge although Seniors’ will welcome any donations that are offered. So if you have no other plans you will find them at Stanstead Lodge Seniors Club, 260 Stanstead Road, LONDON, SE23 1DD.

Buses 185 and 171 pass the door while other buses stop nearby. The nearest London Overground stations are Forest Hill and Catford Bridge. There is also local street parking available.
