Other ways to see better for longer…

05 Oct 2018

Dear LPG.

I have been wearing glasses all my life, and I think that people are right when they say that people who wear them all the time are more likely to be happy to look through dirty lenses than those who only use them for reading or wear them more occasionally.

As one of those people for whom it is necessary to be a habitual wearer, I often don’t notice how dirty they are until I take them off and take a really close look at the lenses, and there has been many a time throughout my life when friends have taken a look at my face and noticed all the bits on them.  I have to admit that there is something really humbling about having my attention drawn to the state of my grubby glasses.

After this, I decided to keep them clean by using anything that was available; usually a tissue or the bit of clothing I happened to be wearing at the time.  That pair had plastic lenses and ended up showing me a world of true fog.  When I could not wear them anymore someone suggested  that I try a particular brand of wire wool as a solution but that definitely did not work!

When I got my new pair the optician gave me lots of advice about their care as old as I am, but feeling humble I thought a look at what the internet had to offer could help.  I found some quite interesting variations on the theme and hope that LPG will be able to pass them on to you.
