Disguising the red and skipping the word…

18 Nov 2018

Dear LPG

I do enjoy reading your daily news posts because there are such a variety of subjects and while what I am about to write may perhaps be more appropriate for the recipe page I do hope that you can make sure that as many readers as possible can see this one.

I found the offering which appeared on 13th November  (►►►)  Interesting because my husband and I both suffer with blood pressure and, in addition to the daily pill-popping habit we both have, I am always on the lookout for natural ways of keeping it at bay.   But (like Marmite) in my opinion,  beetroot is one of those things  you either love or you hate and while I am quite partial,  my husband has always found the idea of getting anywhere near a beetroot, shall we say, somewhat distasteful.   As a child he told me that he would feel that his mother was punishing him when there was a beetroot on offer.  They are so red and I think it is the colour that really puts him off and I cannot remember the last time I have brought one home.

Since learning of their possible value I spent a half hour on Google to see if there was a way that I may be able to disguise the extremely red vegetable for his sake and, to my surprise it did not take me long to find a couple of ideas.

So, I have asked LPG to pass them on in case there are any other spouses that have a similar problem; or just for those who like beetroot and sharing culinary delights.  I have to admit to not having tried either so far though.

RJ, Beckenham.
