The other day I was in the checkout line at my local Tesco’s shop.  There I was, making sure that I had not forgotten anything, while trying to mentally drown out all the usual noises that you hear in a shop where there is so much going on, when I felt a tap on my shoulder.

It was a friend that I used to go to school with and that I had not seen for ages.  We are both older ladies and the queue was long which gave us some ten minutes to catch up and the chat left us both wanting to talk again but, all too soon I had become the person behind the person at the front of the queue.   We wanted to keep in touch and thought it would be a good idea to swap phone numbers except neither of us knew how to do that. 

We both got our shopping and spent ages trying to sort out how but we had no idea until the shop’s security man gave us a quick lesson and I know that this is something that can happen to many of us while we are out and about without a bit of paper or a pen to hand.

In the end the shop security man just did it for us.  While he was pressing this and that on my phone he told us that it is quite a simple thing to do for yourself, as I found out when I googled it.  I thought it would be a good idea to pass on the instructions.  There is another alternative, of course,  and that is to keep a card or bit of paper with a note of it with you.  Then all you have to do is get the person who does not know their number to phone the one that does and the number will register on each phone’s call log or phone history.

I found a few bits of instruction and would like to share them with you if LPG will oblige…

LPG thanks OK for bringing up this issue and researching the tutorials that will help to solve the problem, although some of the information may leave readers just as unable to find their phone number as ever.  If this is the case we suggest asking an IT savvy friend to help.
