Successful getting up solutions?

31 Jul 2019

Dear LPG,

This particular problem is not unique to us oldies, I have always been a ‘sufferer’, but in spite of the fact that there are fewer appointments for me to get up for these days, it  still annoys me a little and I wonder if any other readers have a new idea about how to overcome it.

Now that I don’t actually work anymore, which means that all the younger people around me assume that I have no real reason to get up in the mornings, it really upsets me when I find myself in bed having missed half the morning. I live alone which does not help and I still employ my alarm clock but to no avail most of the time.

The annoying thing is that I usually wake a lot earlier than I really need to, take a look at the clock and persuade myself that I will just close my eyes for another 15 minutes only to find that two hours have gone before I open them again.

I try not to go to sleep too early because I have learned that too much sleep can make you really tired too and, I am not one of those people who have nothing to do now that I have left work, but it really annoys me that I am missing out on so much of every day because, for some reason I sleep through so much of it.

Has any reader a real answer and solution to offer?

LPG found some information about how much sleep we oldies really need according to research and a few internet offerings solution wise…
