This gives ‘keeping your nose clean’ a whole new meaning!

25 Sep 2019

Dear LPG,

I ‘dow’ that I am ‘dot’ the only person who suffers with this particular affliction.

All my life I have had a stuffy nose.  I spend all winter with some kind of cold and, although after my 73 years of existence, I should be used to always having a hanky around, I still get fed up with having to have one or more with me wherever I go.

For many it is just a winter thing, but as soon as the sun starts to peep out behind the clouds my nose is the first thing to remind me that the hay fever season is upon us again. I also suffer from a small degree of asthma which does not help much.

For most of my life I have got by with the medication that the GPs have offered over the years, and while I am used to managing it for the most part, I found this interesting treatment that could help although it worried me the first time I saw the video.  I get the feeling that it is not a brand new idea but it is the first time that I have ever heard of it, which leads me to think that there must be many others who will be seeing this for the first time. I have asked LPG to add hyperlinks to two videos I have found offering demonstrations of what is called Nasal cleansing.

The first time I watched the method I have to admit that I found it a bit daunting, even though it makes perfect sense I suppose.  When younger I managed to get used to touching my eyeballs with my fingers when putting in my contact lenses, so I have decided that I might try this, although I think it might be a good idea to have someone there when you try it the first time.

AB has shared some videos on the subject of nasal cleansing, but LPG would like to stress the suggestion at the end of this post and remind readers that if they plan to try this it might be a really good idea to have someone else around for their first attempt.
