Use the sensory help around you….

Dear LPG,

I am assuming that most of your readers are of my age group, so it is possible they can relate to what I have to say.  I personally think I am less tolerant to individuals that don’t adjust to the fact that they are old or older than they used to be, for whatever reason.

I am an OAP and most of my friends and associates are of the same age group and, as such, I am encountering some issues that annoy me.  Lately I have been phoning close friends to find out how they are.  A few, when they answer the phone, and say “Hello”, listen to my introduction and then ask who it is.  I will repeat my name, they hang up the phone and I am left vexed.  What is wrong with these people, if they can’t hear why don’t they get a hearing aid?

My other issue is to do with glasses, why won’t older people wear their glasses if they need to.  I know a few individuals, men and women, who will not walk or wear their glasses.  They will always use the phrase “I left my glasses at home”, wanting others to read whatever it is for them.  Is it vanity or stupidity?  Younger people wear their glasses - no problem to them.
