Ode to National Poetry Day…

03 Oct 2019

Dear LPG readers,

I wonder how many are aware of National Poetry Day which was first celebrated 25 years ago in October 1994?

So please indulge the editorial group of the LPG while we offer you another reader’s poetic contribution and a little information on the subject of the rhyming word, this day of celebration and what history has to offer about this art form.

With this in mind LPG would like to offer something a little lighter today and even though we do have a poetry page on this national day of celebration we suggest that you follow the poet’s advice…

Always time for Tea.

There is always

Time for Tea

Breakfast, Dinner or Tea

And any hour

In between

It wakes us in the morning

With its perfect golden hue

Dinner time it completes the meal

And Tea time with cakes

On a laden table

Is another fresh ready brew

To unfold

To fill our hungry and

Lush appetites

Tea can comfort

In the saddest of times

And refresh and delight

With friends

Drunk from a dainty cup and saucer

From a cloth covered table

With biscuits to chew

Or mid-morning for elevenses

In a shapely mug

To refresh and revive

From all the morning chores

Just a few minutes with a cup of tea

Gives enough energy

To get the rest done

There is always time

for a cup of tea.

Why not make a cup and digest the two together?
