...the voice of pensioners

Owed to not backing down, thanks CP and well done mum!

11 Oct 2019

Dear LPG,

I want to point out that I really appreciate some of what my mother reads on your website and I have to tell you that she was recently inspired by the advice dated 08 Apr 2019.   CP from Bromley advised that younger pensioners are the members of any community that are best placed to take the establishment on and follow through, during the first 20 years or so after they actually retire.

You may remember the issue with parking that I wrote to LPG about on 10th August  earlier this year (►►►).  At the time I promised that I would finish the story and I am now in a position to do so.

I have to say that it was my mother, who I was visiting in Lewisham Borough, and she was equally as upset as me about the situation and helped me to prepare the letter of appeal that I sent them some two months after the day that I got the ticket,  when the authorities finally allowed me to do so.

I believe that the length of time between the incident and the time that they first allow you to offer your defence is designed to get you to change your mind about sending it, but two letters later and having been helped to stand my ground, I received an interesting letter, from NSL, which says a whole lot of nothing apart from...

On this occasion we have decided to apply discretion and cancel this Penalty Charge Notice.

You need take no further action.’

My mother’s persistence has taught me that it is important to follow through; not only for yourself, but for those who will find themselves in similar positions in the future, and also that my mum is at just the age that CP had in mind when writing that LPG message in April.
