A change of heart or just a change of your options…

21 Mar 2020

Dear LPG,

I was sitting and waiting in the doctor’s surgery for a while the other morning and in the absence of anything else that I wanted to do, I spent a little time actually reading those adverts that keep recurring on the view monitors between the names of the people who finally need to go to the consulting rooms.

One of those adverts reminded us that the organ donation rules are going to change this spring. The information was there for people to see but, I think that if we are honest, many members of the British public have become members of the part of the nation that tend to look and not see a lot of the time.

I think that most of us understand why the rules need to change, although a telephone call to their contact centre confirms that this is more a way of making such a decision easier to make for a person’s family at a really hard time.  There is no doubt that the whole topic is something that we all really need to think about before it becomes a personal issue that complicates our final hours on this earth.

When I returned home I visited the website and the only information that was missing was the actual day that things change.  All I have found so far points to ‘Spring 2020’

Whatever day it is, spring officially starts here, so I urge readers to have a real think about how they feel and, now that what you need to do is in reverse, it might be the time to take a personal look at the facts again.
