Foot freedom and feeling the floor.

20 May 2020

Dear LPG,

With the onset of last winter, and the worries that I have always had about electric blankets, I was inspired to write a message about earthing sheets and the subject of the electrical charges that we have in our bodies and how much electricity we actually should have running around in there.  I have to say how good these currents are for us and how they continue to intrigue me (►►►).

With that in mind my frequent Googling sessions have continued to lead me back to the subject, and I found this rather interesting detail… walking barefoot can be good for you.

I can remember when the surface of the world seemed to be a much cleaner place in the 1980s.  I have no doubt that our pavements were no better than they are now but few people had the internet to turn to so, at least for me, ignorance was bliss as they used to say back then.  I would think nothing of walking to the post-box at the corner of our street on a summers evening free of any footwear and, to this day, I find that when I visit someone’s house and feel the need to lose my shoes as soon as I arrive, I feel more ‘at home’ somehow.  For me, there is something informal about not having shoes on.

I suppose I have always doffed my shoes as soon as the opportunity arose and things have not changed for me as I have got older.  I wonder how many other readers feel the same.

As ever, most of the internet information seems to be preventative rather than remedial, but the fundamentals point to the fact that by freeing our feet regularly we could be teaching our frames, no matter how feeble, a fair number of positive lessons including those of improved balance, earthing, healing, improving the immune system, better posture and even improving blood pressure and calming stress relief. And all these details can be learned without your even having to think about it.

LPG would advise that while reading all the good things that can be derived from walking without shoes, readers who usually wear heeled shoes or have balance problems should read about the possible dangers…
