Self-understanding with a pinch of salt…

27 Feb 2020

Dear LPG,

Are you one of those people who just doesn’t understand why the people around you don’t understand you? I think that we all are a little.  I have had many a conversation over the years with people who are at a loss to get why others assume that they are too flippant or take things too seriously even though we often only see these traits in our friends, acquaintances and family members rather than in ourselves.   There are the people that are always right and those who seem a lot happier to others than they are when they are on their own.

I think that each of us has their own perception of how they come across to others which is often really different to how those other see them, and I often wonder what others see when they see me.

I was googling the other day when I came across quite a few online quizzes which aspire to tell you about your personality and, in the same way as it is advised that you get at least three estimates before choosing a tradesman to do some work on your house, I decided to try at least three of these tests to see if they have any new information to offer about the sort of person I really am.

I know it is all supposed to be a bit of fun but having nothing better to do one morning, I had a go at a couple of them and I found one thing very interesting.  They all gave a similar assessment of what sort of person I am and there are just a few things that I think I need to change a little.

If you have a moment, why not have a go?
